Awakening Your Chakras

So you know about chakras. You have studied each one and understood where they are, what they mean, and you want to start opening and healing them. Here is where you will learn how to do that.

In case you don't, or just to refresh your memory, here are the first steps to go over before beginning.

All caught up? Perfect! Let's do this!

As mentioned in earlier posts, it's always best to start with your Root chakra and work your way up to your Crown, leaving it for last or even putting it off until you feel you have opened and healed your other chakras first.

You can also choose whether you want to go through a continuous chakra meditation, meaning you put a little attention into each one all in one go, or if you dedicate a full session to one at a time.

I found the best thing to start was with a basic 'get to know' your chakra meditation. Meaning I went through each one on my first chakra meditation just to kind of get the 'feel' for them and sort of acknowledged that I'll be working with each one. Sort of like a "hey, what's up chakras?" meditation. This post will be dedicated to that as a perfect start to giving your chakras a little wake-up call before you move into healing them.

THE "HEY, WHAT'S UP CHAKRAS ?" MEDITATION

  • Get into your meditation position of choice.

  • Start with the basic meditation technique from our meditation post. We'll call it our Prelude to Meditation from now on.

  • When you've gotten into your relaxed state with a steady breath, it's time to say a quick 'hello' to your chakras.

  • Starting with the Root chakra, begin to pull air into that area each time you breath in.

  • Pull the air in and see it as a steady and strong stream of pure white light going straight into your pelvic are, exactly in the center of your body.

  • When it hits that spot, see it go into a swirling ball of red energy moving clock-wise.

  • Each time the stream of white breath going into it, it will glow brighter and brighter. Sort of like how embers brighten in wood, where each time you blow on it, it brightens and dims, then brightens and dims. Imagine the same thing, only never let it go out. Always allow yourself to see that red flowing light.

  • When you exhale, imagine a soft grey light escape your lips into the air. Like the smoke from an incense. Curling and billowing out into space, getting rid of the 'dust and cobwebs' so to say. You are doing a chakra house-cleaning!

  • While you keep breathing light into your chakra, think about it's purpose. It's your sense of survival. Think for a moment what that means to you. I see it to be responsible for how I take care of myself, my job, my home and anything else I do to take care of my day to day needs.

  • When you feel you've gotten to know your Root chakra, say: "Hello. I've awakened you, I acknowledge you and welcome you into my life"

  • From there, exhale one last time and see your breath in a lighter light, the gray color having faded away as the dust has been brushed away to show a clean soft light.

  • On your next inhale, bring your white light into the next chakra which would be your Sacral chakra up in your abdomen area.

  • Follow the same steps as before, visualizing it's connecting purpose. Here is a quick guide for each one:

ROOT - See red. Survival. Visualize what you do in this life to survive.

SACRAL - See orange. Pleasure. Visualize what brings you pleasure.

SOLAR - See yellow. Self. Visualize who you are, what makes you, you.

HEART - See green or pink. Love. Visualize how you love others and yourself.

THROAT - See blue. Communication. Visualize how you communicate with others.

3RD EYE - See indigo or purple. Intuition. Visualize your general sense of intuition in life.

CROWN - See purple or white. Connection. Visualize what you think your place is in this world.

  • Once you have gone through each one, thanking and acknowledging them, finish up by taking a deep breath in and sending white healing light all the way from your Crown right down to your Root, passing through each chakra and bathing them in your healing, clean, powerful breath.

  • Exhale and feel each chakra glowing together as they are now awakened and energized by your words and positive energy.

  • Release yourself from your meditation as mentioned in our meditation post, allowing yourself to come back into consciousness and awareness.

  • Feel how your chakras are awake and ready to begin working with you. Little balls of rainbow cosmic energy throughout you!

What a wonderful energy! You have awoken your chakras and are ready to begin healing and working with them.

As you went through your meditation, be aware of what you felt with each chakra.

Did you feel a sense of failure in your root chakra? Did you feel a sense of insecurity in your solar chakra? Did you feel great pain in your heart chakra? These are damaged chakras you will need to heal.

Alternatively, you might have a hard time getting to know one of your chakras. Did you have a hard time seeing what really makes you happy in your sacral chakra? Did you have a hard time getting a clear idea of how you communicate in your throat chakra? Did you feel you couldn't see your place in the world or even refused to see it in your crown chakra? These are blocked chakras you will need to open.

Make note of these feelings, either in your mind or in your chakra journal so you know which you would like to work on more. Reference your chakra chart from the knowing your chakra post to see what affirmations and issues you need to look into when healing or opening them.

If you've made it this far, I am so happy to have shared everything with you and am excited to move us on to the next step which is a deeper healing of the chakras in my next post.
