Easy Picnic Burgers

So it was a Sunday like any other, except the sun was out and it was total picnic weather! Finally!

But I wasn't in the mood for sandwiches...oh no. I wanted burgers! And not just that; CHEESE Burgers!

But I had zero intention on BBQ'ing anything. I wanted it packed and ready to eat once we got there. But how do you get a nice warn burger with the inside veggies all cool and crisp?

I'll tell you! And if you don't feel like reading the directions, just watch the you tube video here:

So the technique is very simple and all you'll need are the following to cook then to pack your toppings:

  • Frying pan with fitted lid

  • Aluminum Foil or other heat resistant food wrapper

  • Sealed container with cold pack that;s been kept in the freezer overnight.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Pre-heat non-stick pan on med to med-high heat (depending on your stove strength) and add a little cooking oil of choice.

2. Once hot, add vegan burgers of choice and follow cooking instructions. From frozen they typically suggest 7 min per side.

3. Once one side is cooked, turn over, top with your vegan cheese of choice.

4. Add about 1/3 cup water to the pan and immediately place lid on. Let it cook for the remaining time.

5. Meanwhile, prep your veggie topping of choice. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles etc. Cut into pieces you like in your burger and pack it away in your container with the ice pack.

6. About 5 min before your burgers are done you can quickly toast your buns in the oven at a low temperature.

7. Once burgers are done, place the burger, cheese-side down on the bottom bun. This is because it will stick to the bread, and you want to be able to add your veggies later.

8. Wrap in aluminum foil to keep warm and pack away!

Once you're ready for your burgers, you can add your toppings which are nice and cool to your warm burgers and enjoy!
