The Basic Blueprint

For all skin types, there are the basic products everyone should be using daily:

1.Cleanser

2.Toner

3.Moisturizer

Used in that order. These should be used twice a day, morning and night. If twice is too much, at night is ideal since that's when most of the dirt from the day has accumulated on your skin and it's always best to go to bed with fresh clean skin. Also, during the night, the body will release toxins, including on your face. A clean face is then best to avoid clogged pores. But that's also why it's a good idea to wash again in the morning.

The cleanser removes all impurities from your skin. From make-up, to minerals in the air or toxins released from the skin.

The toner preps the skin for the moisturizer. It absorbs better on wet skin, and toners have added benefits like witch hazel which closes your pores and essential oils to soften the skin.

The moisturizer can comes in the form as a serum or a cream. Both add moisture to your skin and avoids over-production of oils your body produces. You can use one or both. Each offers benefits and nutrients for your specific skin type. Note: serums are condensed essential oils, and creams are a combination of a small amount of those same oils and water.

Depending on skin type, the following should be used from 2-4 times a week:

Exfoliant

The exfoliant is crucial to remove dead skin that accumulates frequently, and if left alone can clog pores and cause more break-outs as well as giving the face a 'dull' look rather than a healthy glow.

And as an added bonus, but definitely something everyone should add at least 1 a week is:

Masks

A mask offers a bonus treatment for your skin. Since masks usually stay on for 10-20min, it gives the skin a change to really drink in whatever benefits those masks can offer.

Now what if you have all those products together and are ready for your're completely facial. What order do you use them? This one:

1.Exfoliate - clears out dead skin so cleanser can get into pores.

2.Cleanse - removes dirt and impurities.

3.Mask - clay masks will pull out excess impurities and specialized masks will boost benefits.

4.Tone - preps skin for moisturizer.

5.Moisturize - with serum or cream to balance out hydration and add healing properties.

6.Relax - you have just given yourself a complete facial! Rest and enjoy the fresh, clean feeling!
